Discover What’s Great About Living in Knightsbridge

With Hyde Park to the north and upmarket Belgravia, Chelsea and South Kensington as neighbours, Knightsbridge is the star at the centre of an exclusive London universe.

Even if you have never heard of Knightsbridge, there’s a good chance you will know of its world-famous department stores, Harrods and Harvey Nichols. These retail legends have been selling luxury designer fashion, chic homeware and gourmet foods for almost 200 years.

Such long-established traditions define Knightsbridge as a unique and extraordinary place to live, which is why residents work so hard to retain its heritage. The Knightsbridge Neighbourhood Forum was formed in 2015: it aims to bring together local stakeholders to preserve the area’s character and appearance and strengthen its sense of community.

Where can you live in Knightsbridge?

Knightsbridge may be steeped in character and old world charm, but it doesn’t shy away from ambitious modern developments. One Hyde Park – developed by the property tycoons Nick and Christian Candy – was launched ten years ago. At the time, its fabulous Knightsbridge apartments took London luxury property to a whole new level, and the Knightsbridge property market has never looked back.

Recently marketed at £175m, the penthouse at One Hyde Park has been called ‘Britain’s most expensive apartment’, but Knightsbridge estate agents are familiar with record-breaking property prices. Eaton Square, in nearby Belgravia, is not just central London’s largest and most beautiful garden square; it also boasts some of the capital’s most valued homes.

Of course, not all Knightsbridge real estate comes with a multi-million pound price tag. For example, studio apartments can be purchased for less than £500,000, while the cost of a basic, three bedroom flat starts at around £1,600,000 and lastly more luxury apartments can be found starting from £2,200,000

Who lives in Knightsbridge?

Knightsbridge is home to a wide range of wealthy, influential and globally connected residents, including foreign dignitaries and diplomats from the embassies and consulates based in the area. This locality is also popular with affluent British families and wealthy people from across the globe, many of whom have chosen to buy second homes here.

Knightsbridge has learned to cater well for its wealthy residents, with wrap-around services providing everything they need 24/7. However, this area isn’t simply an enclave for the super-rich: the presence of world-class educational establishments such as the Imperial College London, the Royal College of Art and the Royal College of Music attracts students looking for properties to rent in Knightsbridge. Rental properties are also in demand amongst high-earning professionals, thanks to Knightsbridge’s reputation as a relatively safe, family-friendly area with excellent schools.
